With regards open notebook science, I wonder how well that would really work. While it&#039;s a great concept, surely it will become very hard to find the really groundbreaking work in amongst the inconclusive/failed experiments. One of the benefits (though I&#039;m well aware that the system is far from perfect) of peer review is that it serves as a form of quality control for what gets out into the public domain. Also by understanding the type and impact of work published in different journals both researchers and the general public have an immediate grasp of the importance of a specific study. I&#039;d love to hear more about how these types of quick-and-easy assessments could be made in the open notebook system.
